Can you buy Marvin Harrison Jr's jersey online? Update on Cardinals rookie's merch availability by NFLPA
Fans of rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. will have to wait a little longer to buy his Arizona Cardinals jersey online. Fans had hoped that his jersey would become available once he signs his rookie contract, but that isn't the case.
NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Saturday night that the NFLPA (NFL Player's Association) told the Arizona Cardinals, the National Football League and Fanatics that they are all prohibited from selling Harrison Jr.'s jersey. Fans who were looking to purchase a jersey ahead of the 2024 NFL season are still left waiting to see if and when they will be able to do so.
"An update: The NFLPA has advised the NFL, the #AZCardinals and Fanatics that they are not still permitted to sell Marvin Harrison Jr. jerseys based on the wishes of his representatives, sources say." And so, fans wait," Ian Rapoport posted on X.
This has been an ongoing saga with Marvin Harrison Jr. since he was drafted. The wide receiver hasn't signed over the rights to sell his jersey because he is currently in a legal battle with Fanatics.
One thing is for sure though, Harrison Jr. will be wearing #18 when he takes the field for the Arizona Cardinals. Second-year linebacker BJ Ojulari recently agreed to give the rookie the number.
Why is Marvin Harrison Jr. being sued by Fanatics?
Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.'s jersey sales are currently on hold due to pending litigation. The rookie and son of Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison Se. is being sued by Fanatics, which has accused the 21-year-old of a breach of contract.
Just weeks after he was drafted fourth overall by the Arizona Cardinals, Fanatics filed a lawsuit against the wide receiver in New York Supreme Court. The sports apparel brand accused him of breaching a contract signed in the spring of 2023. The former Ohio State wide receiver allegedly signed an NIL deal with the brand to sell signed memorabilia and his jersey.
According to Fanatics, Harrison Jr. didn't agree to the terms of his contract, but still received payment. The wide receiver reportedly claimed that he didn't have a contract with Fanatics although ESPN has reported that the deal was worth $1 million.
