DeAndre Hopkins isn't letting Charvarius Ward's "Steroid boy" dig slide: "That was very personal"

The San Francisco 49ers dominated the Arizona Cardinals last Monday night as the two teams squared off in Mexico City, Mexico. San Fran defeated Arizona 38-10, improving to 6-4 on the season.

Following the victory, 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward made some harsh comments regarding Cardinals star receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

While Hopkins is regarded as one of the best receivers in the game, Ward said he didn't respect his game and dubbed Hopkins a "steroid boy."

Ward said:

"I don't respect his game. That's steroid boy."

Hopkins spoke with reporter Darren Urban, who covers the Arizona Cardinals and asked Hopkins about Ward's comments.

Hopkins said:

"Obviously that was very personal. When a young guy like that says something like that ... it's a lot of talk. To me it's laughable. It's funny."

In the game, Hopkins recorded nine catches for 91 yards on 12 targets. Ward recorded 10 tackles, including one for a loss.

Ward's comments came in response to Hopkins being suspended to begin the season.

On May 2, 2022, the NFL announced that Hopkins would be suspended for violating the league's PED policy for the first six games of the 2022 season. This was the first time in his career that he was suspended for PEDs.

Hopkins returned in Week 7 and had 10 receptions for 103 yards.

Following their 38-10 victory over Arizona, the 49ers are one step closer to a playoff spot as they improved to 6-4.

Arizona are now further away from the playoffs as they fall to 4-7. With the loss, they are now in third place in the division as the defending Super Bowl champs Los Angeles Rams are at the bottom with a 3-7 record.

The 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks are 6-4, but San Fran own the tiebreaker as they have a 4-0 divisional record. If the playoffs were to begin today, San Fran would be in and host a playoff game.

Every week from now until the end of the season will be crucial for the 49ers, like every other team, as we get closer to the postseason.
