CeeDee Lamb warns media to steer clear of questions on pending Cowboys contract: "You'll get 0 answers"
CeeDee Lamb will be in the final year of his rookie contract with the Dallas Cowboys in the 2024 NFL season. Like many superstar players in this position, he is reportedly seeking a new deal before the season kicks off. He appears to be serious about his demands after recently skipping minicamps as negotiations are allegedly ongoing.
According to Cowboys writer Brandon Loree, Lamb will use some of his time during the offseason to host his annual Youth Football Camps in Texas. He shared the story from his X account and Lamb responded to it with a quoted reply. The wide receiver alerted the potential media in attendance not to ask him about his current contract situation.
Lamb said:
"I'm not speaking about any contract negotiations. If that's your questions, you'll get zero answers. It's about the kids."
Loree explained that the camps will be held on Tuesday, Monday and July 20, and with plenty of media expected to be in attendance, it could give Lamb his first opportunity to publicly speak about his contract situation with the Cowboys. He has declined to do so to this point, and apparently that won't change during the camps, according to Lamb's direct response.
The Cowboys find themselves in a complicated situation ahead of the 2024 NFL season as CeeDee Lamb isn't the only one of their superstars seeking a new contract. Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons are also reportedly looking to be among the highest-paid players at their positions, but unlike Lamb, they have reported to mini camp. Lamb is seemingly holding out from returning to the team until he gets a new deal.
What CeeDee Lamb's new contract could look like
CeeDee Lamb has increased his receptions, yards and touchdowns in each of his four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys so far. This resulted in him leading the NFL in receptions last year on his way to a first-team All-Pro selection. His career-year came just in time for his contract negotiations as his overall value is as high as it has ever been.
It's also perfect timing for Lamb in a wide receiver market that has exploded during the 2024 offseason. Justin Jefferson, AJ Brown, and Amon-Ra St. Brown signed the three largest contracts by a wide receiver in NFL history and they all did so this year.
Jefferson currently tops the list at $110 million in guaranteed money and $35 million in AAV. It's reasonable to expect that Lamb sees close to, if not more than, that amount after his monstrous 2023 season.
