Chargers star Ladd McConkey’s fiancée Sydney wishes WR a happy 23rd birthday with adorable picture
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey, who scored a receiving touchdown in his team's win over the Raiders in Week 1, turned 23 on November 11. To make his day more memorable, McConkey's fiancée, Sydney Horne, had a special message for the rookie.
Taking to Instagram, she wrote:
"Happy 23rd birthday my love!! You have already accomplished so much and I can’t wait to see what you can do this year! I’m so proud of you and the person that you are. You deserve it all. Happy happy birthday, I love you forever."
To which, McConkey responded with a heartwarming reply. He commented:
"Blessed to have you by my side! I love you so much, Syd."
That said, Ladd McConkey and Sydney Horne are high school sweethearts who got engaged this year. The lovebirds met while attending North Murray High School in Chatsworth, Georgia, where the rookie WR started his football journey.
It is safe to assume that Sydney has seen Ladd's journey closely – from starting in the varsity team as a freshman to the NFL draft day. Moreover, she has also witnessed the sheer hard work he has put in to get to where he is today.
McConkey popped the big question to Sydney in July, just two months after he got drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers. He was picked 34th overall and agreed to a four-year rookie contract worth $9.9 million guaranteed, which includes a $4 million signing bonus.
The day McConkey was selected by the Chargers in Round 2 of the 2024 NFL draft, Sydney was right by his side. The moment his name was called, she was seen embracing him with a warm hug for his big milestone.
Ladd McConkey picked a picturesque venue to propose to Sydney Horne
Amid the lush greenery of Gordon County, Georgia, with an archway in the backdrop, Ladd McConkey asked his longtime girlfriend Sydney Horne to marry him.
And, of course, she said, "Yes!"
Taking to Instagram, McConkey posted a series of pictures from the big day and wrote:
"My person for life. Here’s to the beginning of forever with my best friend! I love you so much. 7.6.24."
That day, Sydney wore a floral dress with ruffles and kept her hair down in waterfall waves. Meanwhile, McConkey picked a light gray polo shirt with gray pants, which was in sync with Sydney's pastel-toned dress. The setting couldn't have been better for the couple to make the big decision.
