Chiefs' DE Isaiah Buggs faces second-degree animal cruelty allegations in Tuscaloosa: report
Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Isaiah Buggs is facing second-degree animal cruelty charges in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The Tuscaloosa Patch was the first media outlet to break the news that two misdemeanor warrants were filed against Isaiah Buggs on animal cruelty charges.
According to court documents from March 28, the Tuscaloosa Police Department found two dogs: a Pitbull and a Rottweiler, locked on Buggs' rental property. The dogs were said to be malnourished and neglected and the home appeared to no longer have any occupants. Neighbors told police that they saw the dogs on the porch for about 10 days.
The Tuscaloosa Animal Control took both dogs into their custody. However, the Pitbull was euthanized after a heartworm treatment was unsuccessful and it displayed aggressive behavior. The Rottweiler is still under the care of the Tuscaloosa County Animal Shelter.
Isaiah Buggs played two seasons at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 2017 and 2018. He was then drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the sixth-round of the 2019 NFL Draft, he spent three seasons and was then released in January 2022.
Isaiah Buggs' legal issues just the latest headline maker for the Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs have won back-to-back Super Bowl titles and a total of three in the last five years. This offseason though has been filled with headline makers for the reigning Super Bowl champions.
Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault, six counts of collision involving injuries along with one count of collision involving serious bodily injury. The April arrest stemmed from an incident just outside Dallas in late March when a vehicle owned by Rice was involved in a hit and run accident that caused a series of additional accidents.
In early May, Rice was then allegedly involved in a fight with a photographer outside of a club in Dallas. Charges weren't filed in that case though because the victim refused to do so.
In mid-May, Kansas City Chiefs' offensive tackles, Chukwuebuka Jason Godrick and Wanya Morris were arrested on misdemeanor marijuana possession charges. Both were released on bail shortly after.
Then there is the story surrounding kicker Harrison Butker. While it's not a legal matter, Butker's comments during a commencement speech at Benedectine College quickly went viral. He shared his opinions on President Biden's faith, gender roles, sexuality and abortion, which has caused quite a stir.
