Chiefs GM Brett Veach provides crucial Hollywood Brown injury update
Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach has given an update on wide receiver Hollywood Brown. The speedy receiver was a key free-agent signing for the Chiefs and inked a one-year deal with Kansas City this offseason.
However, during the Chiefs' first preseason game, Brown suffered an injury, but according to Veach, he is trending in the right direction.
“I don’t like talking about medical because if I say something and he’s ahead of that timeline or behind that timeline, then I don’t want to put any more pressure on the kid,” Veach said, via NBC Sports.
“I probably can confidently say it was similar to Tyreek, and I think given that timeline I think it falls within the timeline that Tyreek went through, but I know he’s here every day. He’s to the point now where he can laugh without pain, so that’s a good thing. He’s certainly trending in the right direction, and look, there was a reason why we didn’t put him on the IR to start the season.”
Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Brown is questionable ahead of Week 1 and is the only player whose status is in question for the opening game.
When will Hollywood Brown return?
Hollywood Brown is dealing with a shoulder injury, and his status for Week 1 is uncertain.
Brown likely won't play in Week 1, as the Chiefs host the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Sept. 5.
By Kansas City not placing Brown on the injured reserve, it allows the receiver to come back at any time. If he doesn't play in Week 1, Week 2 seems like the possible return spot for Brown to make his Chiefs debut. Kansas City hosts the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 15 in Week 2.
Brown was selected 25th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent the last two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals after spending the first three years with the Baltimore Ravens.
