Chiefs Harrison Butker endorses Donald Trump, championing his pro-life crusade
Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker isn't afraid to speak his mind. The controversial figure just endorsed Donald Trump for the 2024 Presidential race.
Butker attended a rally held by Missouri state senator Josh Hawley on Thursday in Parkville and appeared on Fox News with Hawley to discuss his pro-life stance. Strongly believing in the pro-life position, Butker stated that he supports Trump because he is the president who is more focused on pro-life issues.
Butker said:
"Well, I'm supporting, the president that's going to be the most pro-life president ... The most crucial topic for me, I want us to be fighting for the most vulnerable, fighting for the unborn, and that's what we should prioritize, that's obviously what Senator Hawley is doing as a man of faith."
"You have to vote for whoever is going to be the most pro-life and we have to be prayful men that put God first and I think that's what's going to be best for our country."
Harrison Butker is a man of controversy
While Harrison Butker endorsing Donald Trump and his pro-life stance this morning isn't that controversial, Butker has been in the news a few times for his controversial statements, or having a controversial stance on an issue.
Speaking at his alma mater, Georgia Tech, as a commencement speaker in May 2024, Butker went viral for his remarks. To sum it up, he said that women shouldn't be as active in the work field, and thrive as "homemakers."
Butker, as mentioned above, is a big pro-life abortion supporter. At the Chiefs' White House visit in 2023, Butker wore an anti-abortion tie while celebrating the Chiefs' Super Bowl victory in protest of President Biden's pro-choice views.
In March 2024, Butker condemned the Catholic Church for burying the transgender rights advocate Cecelia Gentili.
Despite his takes and views, Harrison Butker is widely respected as one of the best kickers in the NFL today. Just this offseason, Butker signed a four-year $25.6 million extension with the Chiefs, with $17.8 million guaranteed, becoming the highest-paid kicker in the NFL.
Butker holds a few notable NFL records such as the most field goals made in a rookie season (38), the most field goals in Super Bowl history (9), and the longest field goal in Super Bowl history (57 yards.)
