Chiefs owner Clark Hunt’s wife Tavia accuses FEMA of misusing $1,400,000,000 earmarked for Hurricane Helene relief
Hurricane Helene has claimed more than 220 lives so far and left a large number of victims in its trail. On Wednesday, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced a shortage of funds for relief measures.
Following the announcement, Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt's wife Tavia accused FEMA of having misused $1.4 billion of funds.
On Friday, Tavia Hunt took to her Instagram to share her criticism of FEMA's alleged non-transparent use of taxpayers' money. The criticism came after Alejandro N. Mayorkas, the homeland security secretary, announced that FEMA has low funds for Helene Hurricane relief.
"FEMA redirected $1.4 BILLION of taxpayer's funds over the past two years to illegal aliens due to open-border policies. DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas now says the agency doesn't 'have enough funds for hurricane season. And last Monday we sent another $5.7 BILLION to the Ukraine. But there's no money for AMERICAN CATASTROPHES," Tavia said.
During a media interaction on Wednesday, Alejandro N. Mayorkas explained how FEMA has funds to manage the current need for relief. However, if another hurricane hits the country, the organization is out of money to help with the relief. Talking about the same, Mayorkas said:
"We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have. We are expecting another hurricane hitting — we do not have the funds, FEMA does not have the funds, to make it through the season."
Not just Tavia Hunt, but Miami Dolphins star Jordan Poyer's wife Rachel Bush also made a similar statement, criticizing FEMA's improper use of funds.
Jordan Poyer's wife Rachel Bush criticizes FEMA for misusing funds
On Friday, Rachel Bush made a statement similar to Tavia Hunt, criticizing FEMA for its paucity of funds for Hurricane Helene relief. Bush's criticism came in response to a fan's statement on X that noted:
"Foreign aid is an essential function to our national interests. There is a lot of relief going to the affected areas now, and I’d expect a bipartisan bill to provide for more to be enacted expeditiously."
In response, Bush wrote:
"Stop all foreign aid until our government’s domestic OBLIGATIONS are met!!!! FEMA not having proper funds to make it through hurricane season because they went and spent it WHERE?! On who?! Every American should be enraged with how this situation is being handled."
"Unfortunately, we don’t even need to dive into your inaccurate statement since the FEMA funds that are specifically designated to aid in situations like this have been used improperly by the current administration. What do you have to say on that?" Bush added to her previous statement in another post.
Both Rachel Bush and Tavia Hunt have been open about sharing their political opinions online. Last month, Bush made headlines for lashing out at Kamala Harris.
Hunt, on the other hand, voiced her concerns about America's rising inflation last week.
