Chiefs star Travis Kelce hints at plans for life in retirement - “Definitely interested”
Travis Kelce is one of the most entertaining personalities in the entire NFL, as well as one of the most popular players. His showmanship, sense of humor, social media presence and relatively large fan base are likely some of the reasons why he was invited to be a guest host on "Saturday Night Live" this year in March 2023.
The episode was a success and Travis Kelce apparently enjoyed what he described as a one-of-a-kind experience unlike anything else he's ever done in his entire life. In fact, the defending Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs admitted he would love to take on similar projects at some point as well.
Here's what he had to say about his interest in a potential acting career during an exclusive interview with PEOPLE:
"I'm definitely interested, but that's a whole new craft that I feel like I really got to lock in and focus on ... It was an experience that was like nothing else that I've ever gone through.
"We grew up watching SNL whenever we had a chance to sit down on Saturday nights ... goofing around, having fun and kind of imitating what we saw on TV, both in the sports world and the comedy world."
He added:
"I just can't thank them enough for giving me that opportunity, because I didn't know I was going to enjoy scripted comedy, or that entire entertainment world as much as I did, until I was on a set and going through the week of preparation and stuff like that."
Travis Kelce went on to explain that winning a Super Bowl ring has opened the door for many new opportunities for him, especially in media, which he plans to continue embracing. Some of the ventures include show appearances and commericals, including a new one with his brother Jason Kelce and mother Donna Kelce for Campbell's Chunky Soup.
Travis Kelce's production is showing no signs of nearing retirement
Travis Kelce will turn 34 years old in October during the upcoming 2023 NFL season. While his age suggests he's nearing the back end of his career, his numbers tell a different story. Last year during the 2022 NFL season, he set new career-highs with 110 receptions 1,338 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Kelce serves as the favored target for Patrick Mahomes in the Kansas City Chiefs' high-powered passing attack. He's one of the biggest reasons why they won a Super Bowl ring last season and are favored to do so again this year. He's currently playing some of the best football of his career with no signs of regression.
