Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice could face jail time as police find 10.8 grams of marijuana in crashed Lamborghini: Report

Things aren't getting better for Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice. Last weekend, Rice reportedly fled from a car incident he was involved in, and it took him days to make a public statement.

Yesterday, his lawyer, Royce West, admitted Rice was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Today, news surfaced that per Dallas police, 10.8 grams of marijuana was found in Rice's car on the day of the accident. Possession of this amount in the State of Texas is a Class A misdemeanor, as reported by Dov Kleiman.

Rashee Rice could face punishment for his actions regarding the car accident in Dallas.

However, he hasn't been charged with anything by the law or received a fine/suspension from the NFL. The NFL and law enforcement are gathering information before making a decision.

Neither the NFL nor the Kansas City Chiefs have commented on the situation at the time of writing.

After the crash, Dallas police gave a statement (via NBC):

"The occupants of the Lamborghini and the Corvette all ran from the scene without stopping to determine if anyone needed medical help or providing their information. Two of the involved drivers were treated at the scene by Dallas Fire-Rescue for minor injuries and two occupants of another vehicle were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries."

Rice took to Instagram on Wednesday, taking responsibility for his role in the incident:

"Today I met with Dallas PD investigators regarding Saturday's accident. I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities. I sincerely apologize to everyone impacted in Saturday's incident."

Rice was a standout as a rookie last season for the Chiefs, with 79 receptions for 938 yards and seven touchdowns. With the Chiefs looking to three-peat in the 2024 season, the last thing they need is their start WR to be under investigation.
