Chris Russo ecstatic over Dan Snyder’s Washington Commanders sale – “Roger Goodell is going to be drinking champagne”

Embattled Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder began the process of potentially selling the team on Wednesday. He hired Bank of America to oversee potential transactions for the team, as clear a sign as any that the franchise might get sold.

This is good news for many fans and those in and around the NFL. Chris "Mad Dog" Russo could not have been happier about the news.

He said on First Take:

"Hallelujah. That's the reaction. I mean, Roger Goodell is going to be drinking champagne on Park Avenue. I mean, gee whiz, he's been a thorn in the NFL side forever. I do think this is not a minor thing."

For the NFL, Snyder has been a tough owner to deal with for a long time, and a new owner presents the opportunity for a much better relationship.

Chris Russo believes the Commanders are as good as sold

Russo is certain that the franchise will be sold because he doesn't believe Snyder would go to all this trouble to sell small stakes in the team:

"Why would you make this big announcement if you just kind of sell little bits of it? Maybe this upcoming district attorney's reports got him scared, maybe there are 24 votes, and that's when he needs to get outed by the other owners out of the 32. Maybe that's it, but it sounds like this is a legit deal."

He continued, saying that new ownership will be good for the Commanders:

"This has been a big-time franchise for a long time one of the landmark franchises with the bears and with the Giants and with that, you know, this is a huge team. And it's been a disaster they all hate them. Nobody goes to the games the game last week against Green Bay."

He continued:

"It was 60% Packer fans and I got the freakin raptors, you know covered by sheets because they can't fill the stadium up that get a new stadium in five seconds if he says this is good news for the National Football League. That's my immediate response."

It may take a while to find a new owner, but there is a very strong likelihood that the Commanders will have new ownership soon.
