Chrissy Teigen jumps to Joseph Ossai’s defense after Bengals vs Chiefs
Cincinnati Bengals DE Joseph Ossai committed an egregious error late in the fourth quarter of the game against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship.
He was flagged by the officials for pushing Patrick Mahomes after the latter went out of bounds, which resulted in a penalty of 15 yards.
It led to the Chiefs winning the game via a game-winning field goal. As a result, the weight of the whole world was on Ossai.
The Bengals player was in tears after his team lost and was subject to a lot of criticism on social media. However, Hollywood star Chrissy Teigen came to Ossai's defense on Twitter.
Here's what Teigen said about Ossai's error against the Chiefs:
Teigen was right as the Bengals had multiple opportunities to take the lead but failed to do so. The Kansas City Chiefs were hit with injuries to key players throughout the game, and the Bengals should ideally have capitalized on it.
Joseph Ossai could have avoided the error, but the likelihood of the Chiefs winning the game was still very high at the time. The Bengals player will certainly learn from the incident, as moments like this end up aiding the development of young players.
The Chiefs won their third AFC Championship since Patrick Mahomes became their starting quarterback and will back themselves against the Eagles in the Super Bowl, riding high on the hard-earned victory against Cincinnati.
Joseph Ossai gives his thoughts after loss vs. Chiefs
Joseph Ossai was in tears as he felt he cost his team the game. Here's what he said after the loss to the Chiefs:
"I gotta learn from experience and I gotta know not to get close to that quarterback when he's close to the sideline if it's anything that could possibly cause a penalty."
In just his second season in the NFL, Ossai had 6 solo tackles, 11 assists, 3.5 sacks, and 2 fumble recoveries in 16 games. He will certainly look to bounce back from this forgettable moment and will hopefully be a key player in the future for the Cincinnati Bengals.
The future is still bright in Cincinnati, though, as they have a great roster with Joe Burrow as the face of the franchise. They are expected to feature in such games for years to come.
