Christian McCaffrey's girlfriend Olivia Culpo shares her delight at seeing him make 49ers debut

Running back Christian McCaffrey was traded from the Carolina Panthers to the San Francisco 49ers, late Thursday evening. By Friday afternoon, the 26 year old was already on a plane to San Francisco. Despite having little time with his new team, McCaffrey suited up on Sunday afternoon to make his debut as a member of the San Franciso 49ers.

His girlfriend Olivia Culpo, took to Instagram to post her excitement and how proud she was of him for making the quick transition to his new team. Culpo posted a video of McCaffrey on the field Sunday afternoon. She captioned it by saying that she couldn't be more proud of him. And then wrote about how he had just arrived on the team less than two days earlier.

Olivia Culpo posts touching tribute to boyfriend Chirstian McCaffrey after trade

After the Carolina Panthers traded wide receiver Robbie Anderson to the Arizona Cardinals last week, it was clear that they were open to moving more players. Their star running back Christian McCaffrey, despite missing the better part of two seasons due to injury, was one of the names on the trade block. Was anyone expecting the running back to be traded during Thursday Night Football? Probably not, but that's just how the business side of professional sports operates.

The day after he was traded, Olivia Culpo posted a video to her Instagram page of some of her favorite moments from Charlotte. She wrote that she would never forget the places or people that made her time in the city over the last three years so meaningful.

She then said how proud she was of the former Standford standout. She then said that she was excited to get back home to California, where she has lived for nearly a decade.

"I’m so proud of you Christian! Seeing your light shine is one of my favorite things in life and I’m beyond excited and grateful for this next chapter in Cali."

The trade to the San Francisco 49ers may just be the reboot that the running back needs for his career. The offensive scheme run by Kyle Shanahan may be the key to sparking the running back that he once was early in his career.
