Christian McCaffrey's mom Lisa cheers for brother Luke at high-stakes Eagles-Commanders clash
49ers star Christian McCaffrey's mother, Lisa McCaffrey, didn't need to choose between her two sons on Sunday. She cheered on her youngest, NFL receiver Luke McCaffrey, in the Eagles-Commanders game with Christian on the injured reserve list with a left knee injury, so going to the 49ers-Dolphins clash wasn't an option.
McCaffrey posted a picture, where she was in the stands wearing Commanders gear, on Instagram.
“Let’s do this!” read the caption of the social media story.
Luke McCaffrey, although less of a household name than Christian, is carving his path in the NFL. He was selected in the 2024 draft after playing for the Nebraska Cornhuskers from 2019-2020 and Rice Owls from 2021-2023.
Christian McCaffrey's brother Luke McCaffrey stole the spotlight in Sunday's Eagles vs. Commanders clash. In the third quarter the rookie WR pulled off a 47-yard kick return that put his team, the Washington Commanders, deep in Philadelphia territory.
In light of the play, former Denver Broncos safety Nick Ferguson tweeted:
"Look at young Luke McCaffrey doing his thing #PHIvsWAS I know his dad is so proud of him."
Entering Sunday, the Washington Commanders are second in the NFC East.
Meanwhile, Luke's brother, Christian McCaffrey, who has been playing since 2017 in the NFL, will be entering Week 16 with high stakes with the 49ers (6-8). All they are looking for is clinging to playoff hopes.
However, ESPN's Football Power Index has reported that there is less than a 1% chance of the 49ers in the playoffs entering Week 16.
Christian McCaffrey's brother's team's playoff fate hangs in balance against Eagles in Week 16
The Washington Commanders (9-5 entering Sunday) are on the brink of a playoff berth. While a win wouldn’t guarantee a playoff spot outright, a loss wouldn’t spell disaster either for the Commanders. However, losing would end their slim hopes of overtaking the Philadelphia Eagles (12-2) for the NFC East crown.
Even if the final score is not in favor of the Washington Commanders, the team would still hold a 91% chance of making the playoffs, according to projections from the New York Times.
