Christian McCaffrey's wife Olivia Culpo opens up about massive backlash over viral D&G wedding dress
Christian McCaffrey and Olivia Culpo finally accomplished the thing as last month ended. They were married in her home state of Rhode Island.
The bride opted to be conservative regarding her choice of gown: a long-sleeved, full-coverage piece by Dolce & Gabbana when most others would prefer a corset-style dress that accentuates their arms, shoulders and bosoms. It incited much backlash from some observers, including stylist Kennedy Bingham, which in turn prompted a response from the couple.
Speaking to People magazine recently, Culpo said:
“I was definitely very surprised. I feel like I personally like to give people the benefit of the doubt. And unfortunately, I feel like the words I said were spun out of context to fit an agenda that I did not have."
She added:
“I loved every part of my wedding because I love my husband and the people we got to celebrate that day with. The choices that I made are because I wanted to feel like they're choices I could be proud of in 50 years.”
Christian McCaffrey is "obsessed" with one wedding gift, says wife Olivia Culpo
In that same interview, Olivia Culpo discussed partnering with Illinois-based furniture and home decor retailer Crate & Barrel to curate wedding gifts for prospective brides:
"I know how stressful that whole (planning) process can be. Crate & Barrel really takes out the guesswork by making it a one-stop shop for the whole home. There's really something for every need that you have, and they make it so seamless."
According to her, one item in particular caught Christian McCaffrey to the point of obsession: a Zadro towel warmer. She said:
"It's not the first thing you would think someone would choose, but honestly, it was one of the first things I knew I wanted to put on a registry. It's so nice having a warm towel coming out of the shower. It's the simple things in life, but definitely one of our favorites."
As for Culpo, her obsession is a casserole dish/Dutch oven by cookware maker Le Creuset. She thinks it to be timeless and versatile:
"I love to bake bread in it. I got really into making sourdough bread this year. It's wild. I found myself up at night at 1 a.m. in bed watching YouTubes of bread. Hour-long videos. I'm like, 'What is wrong with me?'"
The two items sell for $600 combined.
Other gifts she mentioned include a KitchenAid Stand Mixer and Ooni Pizza Oven. Both retail for a combined $850.
