CJ Stroud reveals powder keg moment during Ohio State vs Georgia - “People were talking too crazy”
During the first round of the college football playoffs, the Ohio State Buckeyes and quarterback CJ Stroud gave Georgia a run for their money as they tested the Bulldogs in the Peach Bowl.
The Bulldogs wound up victorious, but it didn't come easy as they won 42-41 in a closely contested playoff game.
Heisman winner CJ Stroud had one of the best games of his college career vs. one of the greatest defenses of all time. He threw for 348 yards and four touchdowns while throwing zero interceptions.
Stroud joined Pat McAfee's show, and McAfee credited Stroud's leadership and perseverance leading up to the Georgia game and asked him if he was always a leader the way he displayed.
He said:
"For me man, I definitely think that adversity isn't new to me. I definitely think that that's how I kinda grew up a little bit, just my childhood, I mean those were I wouldn't say life-or-death situations, those are more drastic sitatuions, but this is football, it's a game, and I do take it very seriously, I work my tail off everyday to get wins and make sure our fan base is happy."
He continued:
"Sometimes it doesn't go down like that. But my job is, as a leader of the football team and the quarterback is to keep everyone grounded and and just let people know at the end of the day it don't matter what they say, it's about what we know in this building and that was just the message and I tried to make sure it was clear for me and my teammates."
"People were talking too crazy we was like it's like people forget that we knew how to play football anymore. So I defintely think that everything happens for a reasonand I don't really base my thought process or my happiness of of people."
C.J. Stroud is expected to be drafted in the top five picks of the 2023 NFL draft
While Stroud may not have won a national championship, he won the Heisman award and is a projected top-five draft pick in this year's draft class.
Stroud was one of the best players in all of college football last year, as he almost led the Buckeyes to a national championship. He threw for 4,435 yards, 44 touchdowns, and just six interceptions.
Many are pegging either him or Alabama quarterback Bryce Young to be selected number one overall.
