Colin Cowherd names this NFC team as "biggest obstacle" to Eagles' Super Bowl dreams (and it's not the Lions)
The Philadelphia Eagles are riding the biggest winning streak in the NFL. Nick Sirianni's team has won its past 10 games and they're tied with the Detroit Lions for the first seed in the NFC with three weeks remaining.
Even though the Lions have the tiebreaker advantage, the Eagles are more than alive in this fight. They have an easier schedule, and the Lions are suffering from many injuries to their defense and also to their running back group. Philadelphia, on the other hand, is one of the healthiest teams in the league.
For most of the regular season, many fans and analysts believed that the conference would be a fight between Philadelphia and Detroit. However, Colin Cowherd thinks differently: he believes that an NFC North team is the greatest threat to Philadelphia's NFC championship hopes, but it's not the one team you'd think it is.
"I think Green Bay is the biggest obstacle for the Philadelphia Eagles to get to the Super Bowl," Cowherd said on his podcast 'The Herd with Colin Cowherd'. "If you did any reseeding, I'd do Philly, one and Green Bay, two. Detroit's falling apart. The Rams feel like they're one more draft away.
"The Vikings, Sam Darnold's never been to the playoffs. I find the Packers so easy to root for. They're such a smart, well run business, youngest team in the league. They develop quarterbacks better than any organization in the history of the National Football League," he added.
The Packers defeated the Seattle Seahawks during Week 15's Sunday Night Football, extending their record to 10-4 this season. However, apart from the Lions, they're still behind the Minnesota Vikings (11-4) in the division, but the wild card berth is likely to come.
Remaining game for Eagles, Lions, Vikings and Packers in the regular season
These four teams still have a chance to win the first seed, although Philadelphia and Detroit are the big favorites:
- Eagles: at Commanders, vs. Cowboys, vs. Giants
- Lions: at Bears, at 49ers, vs. Vikings
- Vikings: at Seahawks, vs. Packers, at Lions
- Packers: vs. Saints, at Vikings, vs Bears
Whoever wins the first seed in the conference will play all playoff games at home while also resting during the wild card round.
