Colin Cowherd pressures Ravens to wrap marathon negotiation with Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson has been in negotiations with the Baltimore Ravens for too long now. After watching the quarterback lead the team to a comfortable victory on Monday Night Football, one NFL analyst expressed a level of frustration that the team had not tied the knot yet.

Speaking on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, show host Colin Cowherd pressured the team to pay their quarterback:

"I'm watching Lamar Jackson [on Monday Night Football]. Pay him already. The number one quality of a franchise quarterback is when your team isn't right."
New #Ravens LB Roquan Smith is in the final year of his deal.

Unless Baltimore does a new deal, he'll be a free agent in March.

How about the franchise tag? Lamar Jackson is also in the final year of his contract. They need it for him right now.

Very interesting situation.

He continued, explaining that even with a roster with gaps, the quarterback has found a way to win:

"Can he carry you to a win? So the best tight end in football or at least the second best, Mark Andrews, is not available, their best receiver out in a weak receiving corps, the defense has holes on the back end - Monday Night Football in the loudest road venue in the league and Lamar Jackson barely broke a sweat."
Lamar Jackson is next in line to get paid at QB. After him, it’s Joe Burrow. So I asked Joe if he’s been following Lamar’s contract situation and if he’s a fan of his game.

Joe Burrow’s response on Lamar Jackson was pretty great: https://t.co/8x0SdK8NhL

In 2022, with negotiations looming, Lamar Jackson has seen a bounceback from 2021. Through nine games, he's won almost as many games as he did last season (6-3 against 7-5). He also threw the same number of touchdowns with half as many interceptions.

In 2021, the quarterback threw for 16 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Through nine games in 2022, he's thrown for 16 touchdowns and six interceptions. As Cowherd stated, Mark Andrews has been dealing with injuries and Marquise Brown is not on the team this year. Despite the adversity, the quarterback has still been effective through the air.

On the ground, he's been as effective as ever, rushing for at least 50 yards in seven games. In two games, he rushed for at least 115 yards. He'll hope to keep up the quality play heading into their next matchup against the Carolina Panthers in Week 11.
