Colin Cowherd puts Jets HC Robert Saleh on 'hottest seat' ahead of 2024 NFL season - “Aaron Rodgers is not taking the blame”
After suffering from an injury that saw him miss the entire last season, quarterback Aaron Rodgers is fired up to finally lead his new team to glory. However, NFL analyst Colin Cowherd has advised coach Robert Saleh to look out for himself if the New York Jets falter this season.
The Jets have grabbed a ton of headlines leading up to training camp. However, Cowherd called out the team for a bad day under the sun, with the offense looking venomless. If this trend continues, Cowherd suggested on his show "The Herd" that 'A-Rod' will not be there to take the blame:
“So yesterday, Aaron had a terrible practice, the offense stunk. By the way, if Aaron struggles, he’s not taking the blame from the ownership and Aaron leads the NFL, he's all first team, passive-aggressive point to others.”
Rodgers will be safeguarded by the media and from the wrath of the owners, as per Cowherd. However, after three lackluster seasons, Robert Saleh might not have his job.
“So, I think the heat on Saleh is a real thing," Cowherd continued. “And I think it changes the way coaches coach. They're already talking up Aaron on yesterday's bad day. But needless to say, we're going into a season where we're told, ‘Aaron's great’ meaning if they struggle, Aaron's not going to get the heat. The pressure is on Robert Saleh. He is on the league's hottest hot seat.”
The 2011 Super Bowl winner injured his Achilles in his debut game for the Jets at the 2023 season opener. After being unable to play the entire campaign, Rodgers was criticized for missing a minicamp earlier this month due to a trip to Egypt.
Aaron Rodgers will not play preseason games
While fans are eager to see Aaron Rodgers in a Jets jersey, they might have to wait a bit longer. The Jets have three preseason games lined up, but there is a possibility that Rodgers might not participate in them, as reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter:
"Jets HC Robert Saleh said that QB Aaron Rodgers, who is recovering from his Achilles injury, is unlikely to play this preseason."
Rodgers has once again drawn ire and mockery from NFL fans over this decision.
