"He's Kirk Cousins, but more popular" - Colin Cowherd claims Dak Prescott is capping Cowboys' potential after $160 million extension
Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys suffered a huge loss against the Green Bay Packers last week. They led by 14 points heading into the fourth quarter but Aaron Rodgers was able to lead his team to a crucial win.
While the Packers quarterback inspired his team to victory, the Cowboys quarterback failed to do so. As a result, people once again began doubting whether or not he is the right man for the job in Dallas.
Colin Cowherd has also raised serious doubts over Dak Prescott. He believes that the Cowboys paying him a large amount of money has led to a decrease in the overall quality of the team. Here's what he said on the Colin Cowherd podcast:
"The quality of the quarterback play in this league is getting better, faster. And I look at Dak I said this today on my show. Younger, cheaper, healthier Dak was better than this Dak because that Dak you could surround him with better players. Now Dak is older, expensive and more brittle. He hit his ceiling."
Cowherd added:
"He's Kirk Cousins but more popular. He hit his ceiling in mid-year two, Dak never had a huge ceiling. His strength was leadership, toughness, Guile, mobility, winning. He hit that middle of second year. The more expensive that gets, the less you can support him with."
He continued:
"I think the less you get from Dak he's the rare quarterback, Kirk Cousins is this. But the more you pay cash Record Dak, the less you surround them with, and you get arguably a worse version of them."
The Dallas Cowboys are currently 6-3 and are still in the mix for the playoffs. They had a great opportunity to catch the Philadelphia Eagles for the NFC East title, but the loss to the Packers has made it harder.
Dak Prescott has a big opportunity to redeem himself as the Cowboys will face the Minnesota Vikings in Week 11. A win against a good team like the Vikings would really help in boosting confidence and changing the narrative.
Has Cooper Rush put more pressure on Dak Prescott?
When Dak Prescott went down injured in Week 1, many believed the Cowboys' season was over. However, Cooper Rush, the backup quarterback, put up some great performances to keep the season alive for Dallas.
Rush's performance and 4-1 record in Prescott's absence this campaign has put more pressure on the starting quarterback. Cooper Rush had a passer rating of 80.1 for 1,020 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions this season.
While Dak Prescott has a passer rating of 85.9 for 856 yards, six touchdowns, and four interceptions in four games this season. Hopefully, he will be able to build himself up in the remaining games.
