"Colts team f***ing sucks": Pat McAfee unleashes on former team amid Indianapolis' total meltdown
Not many things have been great for the Indianapolis Colts over the past three weeks. Apart from losing all three games, the team also made a controversial decision to bench second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson and start veteran Joe Flacco instead.
Head coach Shane Steichen preached Flacco's "veteran leadership" as the reason for him to lead the team on the field. However, he has thrown five interceptions in just two games, and a promising season is quickly unraveling.
Not only Indianapolis fans are upset with the current situation of the team, but former players also have been extremely critical of how they're playing in 2024. One of the most prominent voices in sports media, Pat McAfee, who's also a former player for the Colts, did not hold back following the 30-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 10:
This Colts team f***ing sucks. I'm disgusted. Everybody wants to put AR in. AR had no chance with this building, and that is what I've realized over the last 12 hours. He's got nobody telling him how he's supposed to operate in that building? Kenny Moore, our captain, one of my favorite guys on the football team, after the game he comes out and goes "Our team doesn't work". There are no professionals in that building.
Kenny Moore's postgame comments sent shockwaves through the locker room. The star cornerback said that he doesn't think that "everybody is working as hard as possible, and obviously it's showing". The Colts have not won a playoff game since 2018.
Why the Colts benched Anthony Richardson?
He has just four touchdowns and seven interceptions this season. He's also completing just 44.4% of his throws in 2024. The team has preached patience on his development, but when sitting with a 4-4 record, Steichen felt the need to move to a more consistent quarterback.
However, Flacco's recent play created plenty of questions from analysts about whether he was the right player to lead Indianapolis for the remainder of the season, especially as he threw five interceptions since taking over.
Shane Steichen has already confirmed that Flacco will remain the starter for Sunday's game against the New York Jets.
