Commanders OC Kliff Kingsbury heaps praise on rookie Jayden Daniels for "night" study sessions

The Washington Commanders picked Jayden Daniels to be their quarterback of the future, and so far, offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury believes it was a good selection. The former head coach was brought in to help Daniels, and he got the chance to discuss what he has seen from the former LSU star.

Kingsbury lavished praise on the rookie.

“I love the process. I love how he approaches each day, how he handles the good, the bad, all the installs. He must study it like crazy at night, because every morning when we get here and he walks through with us, he nails it," he said, via NBC Sports.

Kingsbury added that he appreciates the work Daniels is putting in. Daniels is doing what he needs to take it to the next level, and Kingsbury says that's all he can ask for from a young player like Daniels.

The talent Daniels has was on display when he won the Heisman, but the mental aspect of the game has so far impressed Kingsbury. He added:

“I think he is just putting in the work to reach the level that he expects himself to play at this year, which is probably higher than what any of us could imagine."

Kingsbury lauded the "consistency in his approach" and in how he treats those around him. Per the former Arizona Cardinals coach, Daniels maintains a good standard in everything he does. That should yield positive results.

Can Jayden Daniels take home ROY?

Jayden Daniels figures to be the day-one starter in Washington, which may give him a leg up on some of his rookie counterparts when it comes to the year-end award.

Unsurprisingly, Caleb Williams is the favorite in FOX Sports' odds. But Daniels isn't far behind him:

  • Caleb Williams, Bears: +210
  • Marvin Harrison Jr., Cardinals: +600
  • Jayden Daniels, Commanders: +900
  • J.J. McCarthy, Vikings: +1000
  • Malik Nabers, Giants: +1400
  • Drake Maye, Patriots: +1500
  • Xavier Worthy, Chiefs: +1600
  • Rome Odunze, Bears: +2500
  • Keon Coleman, Bills: +2500
  • Brian Thomas Jr., Jaguars: +2500
  • Bo Nix, Broncos: +2800

There's a strong case that Daniels can make a run for the award and steal it from Williams.
