What happened to Ron Rivera's mother? Commanders HC gets emotional remembering late mother after win vs. Eagles

The Washington Commanders upset the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night in Week 10 of the 2022 regular season. The Commanders beat the Eagles 32-21 and avenge their loss from the Eagles earlier this season.

Following the victory, Commanders head coach Ron Rivera gave an emotional speech. Rivera's mother passed away on Monday, October 1st, and he held back tears, saying how proud his mother would have been following the victory.

Washington put on an impressive performance vs. the Eagles. Running back Brian Robinson ran for 86 yards on 26 carries while scoring a touchdown. Washington's leading receiver was Terry McLaurin as he caught eight passes that went for 128 yards.

The defense scored a defensive touchdown after the game, which resulted in difinitve victory for the Commanders.

There haven't been too many details on Dolores' death and no cause of death has been publicly put out.

In a statement from the Washington Commanders, they said that she passed away peacefully.

The Commanders released the following statement regarding Dolores' death:

"We are saddened to announce that coach Rivera’s mother, Delores, passed away peacefully yesterday evening with her husband and family members by her side. The Rivera family would like to say thank you for the many kind thoughts and prayers they have received. Arrangements are pending, and we would ask everyone to please respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time.”

Ron certainly made his mother Dolores proud tonight, as he helped lead the Commanders to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles.
