Commanders will trade for Davante Adams midseason following Raiders' poor show, predicts Mina Kimes

The Las Vegas Raiders traded for Davante Adams from the Green Bay Packers during the 2022 NFL offseason. Since his arrival, Adams has put up consecutive 100-catches and 1000-yard season despite the abysmal quarterback play. The Raiders have been one of the worst NFL teams in the last two years, going 14-20 in this span.

The six-time Pro Bowler has been subject to trade speculations througout this offseason, mainly to reunite with Aaron Rodgers in New York. While those have just been rumors, Mina Kimes predicts Adams will be traded this year, midseason, to the Commanders.

Speaking on ESPN's Spicy Takefest, Kimes said that the Raiders will continue to be a bad foootball team this year. She mentioned that the Commanders will have won enough games with their rookie quarterback Jaden Daniels, to invest in him midseason.

"My hot take is that by midseason, Devonte Adams is a Washington Commander," Kimes said. ... "His [Davante Adams] contract is actually very, I think attractive to a team that wants to keep him around for some time. It's very tradable. I mean, it's $35 million a year after this season, but that's all salary. So you can trade for him, restructure it, keep him in the building for a long time." [from 1:29:48]

Kimes added:

"I still think he's an incredibly, incredibly elite wide receiver. Obviously, he was not thrilled with the situation in Las Vegas last year, but the Commanders strike me as a team that are going to be like just feisty enough to want to do this, and I think they're also going to be motivated to improve the circumstances of the their quarterback."

Davante Adams might not be a huge fan of the Washington Commanders

Davante Adams can be animated when things do go his way on the football field. The Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver has erupted on the sidelines, a lot, in the past two years. His helmet-smashing outburst against the Detriot Lions during the 2023 NFL season is a prime example.

The Netflix documentary 'Receiver' showed how Adams wears his heart on his sleeve. His frustration has stemmed from the fact that the Raiders have been a below par team and Adams' values winning. While Mina Kimes has predicted the Commanders would trade for Adams, the three-time All Pro wide receiver might not be a fan of the team.

Speaking on Hot Ones Versus earlier this year, in July, Adams skewered the fan bases of the New England Patriots, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Buffalo Bills and the Washington Commanders.

"And then you got the Washington (Commanders). I mean they're obviously just miserable 'cause the stadium is horrible."

Earlier this offseason, Davante Adams highlighted his commitment to the team amid rumors of reuniting with Aaron Rodgers.

The Las Vegas Raiders will kick off their 2024 NFL campaign against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, 8 Sept, 1 p.m. EST at the So-Fi Stadium.
