Cooper Kupp trade rumors: Rams HC Sean McVay shoots down speculation on WR's move

Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay shot down speculation that the team will be trading star receiver Cooper Kupp. Kupp's name came up in trade rumors after the Rams started the year 2-4.

However, Kupp returned to the lineup in Los Angeles' 30-20 upset home win over the Minnesota Vikings. The win got the Rams back in the playoff picture and after the game, McVay shot down any rumors of Kupp being traded.

"Here's what I'll tell you," McVay said, via SI. "Teams reached out. Some of the things that I've seen out there ... They're just not true. We've addressed that with those individuals. Teams have called about him. And we let him know what the dialogue was there."
"There's a lot of stuff out there where there's not a lot of accountability to the reports. And that's unfortunate."

Kupp is one of the best receivers in the NFL, and McVay is expecting him to be a Ram for the remainder of the season.

"No I don't think about those things," McVay added. "I think about coaching our team. I think a lot of the things that were out there or speculation was exactly what that was—speculation.
"We're an inside-out organization. I'm really glad to have Cooper Kupp back with us. And that's what I expect to stay that way," he added.

After his return to the lineup, Kupp recorded five receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown. It was his first game since Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Cooper Kupp was selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft by the Rams. He's spent his entire career in Los Angeles and was a key reason for the Rams winning Super Bowl LVI.

However, the Rams were off to a 2-4 start and Kupp's name was involved in trade talks, but he said he wanted to remain in Los Angeles.

"I'm aware of it, but at the end of the day, I mean, I'm going to be where my feet are," Kupp said, via ESPN. "That's all I know. I have a job to do here. And I take a lot of pride in giving everything I can for the guys in this building and being able to step on the field knowing that I prepared the best that I can.
"And for seven and a half years I've been an L.A. Ram and I've taken that approach every single day. And whatever happens outside of that, I've got to control what I can control. And right now that means being the best L.A. Ram that I can be," he added.

In three games this season, Kupp has recorded 35 receptions for 198 yards and two touchdowns.
