Cowboys great Michael Irvin sounds alarm for Cowboys as 49ers display dominance
The Cowboys and the 49ers are two of the top teams in the NFC, as both teams have Super Bowl aspirations this season. Most experts and pundits see these two as contenders to play in Allegiant Stadium to end this season.
While both seem even on paper, Cowboys legend Michael Irvin expressed some concern for his former team. Irvin spoke on "Undisputed" on how the 49ers looked unstoppable in Week 3 on Thursday night:
"The 49ers are a physical football team and that's the one thing I'm most scared of for the Dallas Cowboys. And that guy right there, Deebo Samuel. When he starts going, this team goes. That's what I was impressed with. And that's what I was also worried about that dude right there.
"Two years ago, I talked to Michah Parsons on my podcast, he said he was sore for two weeks. I said, why would a man tell another man he was sore for two weeks. That's how physical the San Francisco 49ers is."
The 49ers hosted the New York Giants to open Week 3 of the season, defeating the Giants 30-12. Both sides of the ball shone for San Francisco, as Brock Purdy threw for 310 yards and two touchdowns.
Christian McCaffrey had 119 yards from scrimmage with 85 yards rushing and a touchdown with 34 yards receiving. Deebo Samuel had six catches for 129 yards and a touchdown, while George Kittle reeled in seven receptions for 90 yards.
Defensively, the 49ers allowed 150 yards of total offense and 10 first downs against the Giants. Quarterback Daniel Jones was sacked twice and threw an interception in the game.
San Francisco's defense has allowed the fourth-fewest yards and second-fewest points in the league so far this season.
Will the 49ers face the Cowboys this season?
The 49ers will host Dak Prescott and the Cowboys in primetime on Sunday night Week 5 at Levi's Stadium.
Both teams met in last season's Divisional Round, where San Francisco defeated Dallas 19-12. Prescott had two interceptions in that game along with 206 yards passing and a touchdown.
San Francisco has won the past two matchups against Dallas and the series is tied at 19 games apiece with one tie. We'll see if the Cowboys heed Irvin's comments ahead of their matchup this season.
