Cowboys icon bats for docuseries on Kyrie Irving‘s battle with public scrutiny - “Lotta people and brands let him out to rot”
Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant seems to have become Kyrie Irving's new fan. After the Mavericks guard won NBA Fan Favorite Handle of the Year, he called out the critics who had claimed that off-field issues had eaten away at his performance.
When another X.com user, Casey B. Braun, continued to express doubts regarding the veracity of the award, Bryant responded:
"How he continues to overcome adversity.. a lotta people and brands left him out to rot…betting on yourself ain’t easy.. you can fall and never get back up…the public scrutiny he faced and now couple of games away from being a nba champion.. even if he don’t get the ring.. it was his journey that stood out," Bryant said.
"He deserves his own docu series and much more!"
Dez Bryant invokes current Cowboys franchise faces in advising 2024 rookies
When Dez Bryant was in the league, he was a primary target for Tony Romo and then Dak Prescott. He was thus part of many moments in NFL lore, like his overturned catch against the Green Bay Packers in the 2014-15 Divisional Round.
He had been there and seen it all, and in a video message, he told the Cowboys' 2024 rookie class:
"I got some advice for you. As soon as you can understand rookie is just a title, it's showtime ... Those guys drafted you for a reason. They need you to contribute right now," Bryant said.
"As soon as you get in that locker room, make sure you find the vets, those all stars, those superstars, the play-makers. Micah Parsons, Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, Trevon Diggs. Go find those guys. Go ask some questions. Trust me."
The rookie class includes offensive linemen Tyler Guyton and Cooper Beebe, who are expected to play major roles.
The former is set to replace now-New York Jet Tyron Smith at left tackle, while the latter is already preparing to go to center to replace Tyler Biadasz, who has joined former defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and the Washington Commanders. He told website writer Patrik Walker that offensive line coach Mike Solari had started the transition.
Other important rookies include linebacker Marist Liufau, who bolsters a linebacking corps hampered by the retirement of Leighton Vander Esch, and undrafted tight end Brevyn Spann-Ford, who is expected to provide competition for Jake Ferguson.
