Cowboys' Jerry Jones makes feelings crystal clear on $17,079,793 Micah Parsons' trade rumors: report
With the Dallas Cowboys extending CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott this season, there have been recent rumors of the team potentially trading defensive star, Micah Parsons.
On Monday, NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport reported that the Cowboys didn't close the door on the possibility of trading Parsons in the near future. Parsons will be playing on the final year of his rookie deal next season.
With rumors circling about a potential trade, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones addressed the rumors on 105.3 The Fan, and said that the Cowboys have no interest in trading Parsons and his $17 million contract.
Cowboys reporter Jon Machota Tweeted:
"Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan said there is no truth to any story about the Cowboys being interested in trading Micah Parsons. Jones said words on that topic have "never been uttered in this organization."
Parsons is one of the best edge/outside linebackers in the NFL and will break the bank once he signs a contract extension. He's an NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, three-time All-Pro, and three-time Pro Bowler.
Micah Parsons opens up about potential trade rumors
The NFL, like every other major professional sport, is a business at the end of the day. Micah Parsons understands that.
Yesterday, amid rumors of his name being brought up in possible trade talks, Parsons addressed the situation, stating he understands the business side of things but reiterated that he wants to remain a Dallas Cowboy.
Parsons said:
"I understand how that business side goes. There are no hard feelings in this business, whether I'm here or anywhere else. Obviously I've stated that I want to be here. But at the end of the day, I understand the business side. I've put in a lot of work, I've played hard too, so obviously if sides can't agree to those type of things, it happens like that."
"But I'm just happy to be here. I'm just gonna keep playing hard while I'm here. If I'm here for the next 5-6 years, I'm gonna keep playing hard then too. Ain't nothing really gonna make a difference, Micah is gonna play hard."
Micah Parsons has missed a few games this season due to injury but has recorded 32 tackles, 8.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one pass deflection.
The Cowboys will have a big decision to make on their future plans with Parsons. Will they trade him, let him go in free agency, or will they extend him soon?
