Cowboys legend Michael Irvin breaks silence on $100m Marriott lawsuit - "Was in a dark place"

Former NFL wide receiver and NFL Network analyst Michael Irvin revealed that he's not doing well after a series of unfortunate events. He responded to a comment on his recent tweet:

“You might be right, bro…. But I was in a dark place from dealing with all that stuff since Super Bowl. I had to get away. Thanks bro.”

Irvin was in Brazil during UFC 287 and witnessed Israel Adesanya's knockout of Alex Pereira to regain the UFC Middleweight Championship. The five-time Pro Bowler enthusiastically shared:

“Did y’all see that!? I found a spot in Brazil to watch the fight! Oh my god! I don’t even know these jokers! But we watched the fight together!... Oh my god, we’re going to have a three! We’re going to have a three!
“And we all decided, before the fight, if there’s a three, we’re all going to it together. We’re going to it together! I was hiding from these, and they found me in Brazil!”
😳😳😳😳🔥🔥🔥🔥NOTHING GETS ME MORE FIRE THAN HAND TO HAND, MAN TO MAN COMBATE!!!!! ⁦@danawhite⁩ WE NEED A 3!!!! https://t.co/oaOiUtVzmz

Irvin is in a legal battle with the Mariott-owned Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel over alleged sexual misconduct. He filed a third lawsuit for an undisclosed amount hours after dropping the $100 million lawsuit he filed in Texas.

A female employee at the hotel’s lobby accused Michael Irvin of “harassing and inappropriate comments.” The allegations led the NFL Network to remove him from their Super Bowl LVII panel. The three-time All-Pro remains suspended from the network.

Michael Irvin maintained his innocence after release of hotel footage

Michael Irvin’s legal team, led by attorney Levi McCathern, played a video of the encounter between Irvin and the woman. It had no audio, and their facial expressions were unclear. However, it showed Irvin talking to a Marriott employee who accused him of inappropriate comments.

While Irvin was on his way to the bar, he and the employee moved further into the lobby and continued talking. Irvin then touched the woman’s arm twice before she raised her hands. The conversation ended when they shook hands.

The Pro Football Player commented on the footage, as Fox 4 KDFW’s Steven Dial reported.

“Here's the truth. We used to say when we played football ‘the eye in the sky don’t tell no lie.’ It's just the truth. We talk and tell lies, but the eye in the sky don't tell no lie."

Irvin was evicted from the hotel due to the alleged untoward incident. McCathern claimed they were joking.

Meanwhile, the third lawsuit he filed in Maricopa County, Arizona, included Marriott and the Renaissance Hotel as defendants.

Conversely, court documents revealed that Irvin was “visibly intoxicated” while allegedly asking a question about having intercourse with a black man. However, he maintained his innocence.

“I don't speak like that. I've never spoken like that. I totally deny saying that."

Michael Irvin has played in 12 NFL seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. He led the league in receiving yards in 1991 with 1,523. He finished his career with 750 receptions, 11,904 yards, and 65 touchdowns.
