Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will sabotage any GM who wants in, claims Shannon Sharpe

Three-time Super Bowl champion Shannon Sharpe hit out at Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones for his comments on how he's running the franchise.

Jones, who has been leading the Dallas Cowboys since 1989, said he did not plan on hiring anyone else to serve as GM as he felt he was best equipped to do the job. He also said he was a long way away from giving up control of the franchise.

Sharpe praised Jones for taking over and building a successful NFL franchise but pointed out that his methods have become stale in the present environment.

On Tuesday's episode of ‘First Take’, Sharpe dug deep into the mentality of the Dallas Cowboys owner. He suggested that Jones cannot let anyone apart from himself have the limelight for the team’s success.

“So he won't allow anybody to do that,” said Sharpe. “That's why he won't bring a coach in there with any name. He's never going to have a Sean Payton. He would never have a Bill Belichick, because those guys, when it goes well, are going to get the credit.
“Jerry desires the credit. So he's going to sabotage any general manager. He's going to sabotage anybody that might get any oxygen in which you talk about that's why he does what he does,” he added.

Jerry Jones keeps his promise to pay CeeDee Lamb

After months of speculation and drama around CeeDee Lamb's contract extension, Jones kept his promise. The star WR became one of the highest-paid athletes in the league after his $136 million deal. But Jerry Jones has more on his plate.

The job is only half done. Star QB Dak Prescott is still without a contract. Coach Mike McCarthy is also in the final year of his contract. Soon, Micah Parsons, the defensive lynchpin on the squad, will also look for a lucrative extension.
