“It was unnecessary” - Cowboys’ Trevon Diggs doubles down on criticism against NFL reporter after viral ‘deez nu*s’ clapback
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs has intensified his criticism of the reporter he had a go at after his team's last game.
After Dallas lost to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football, a reporter took aim at Diggs. Mike Leslie of WFAA questioned Diggs' effort on a play. After the game, Diggs went up to Leslie and blasted him for his post.
Diggs told him he doesn't play football so he can't comment on it. However, many people were critical of how Diggs handled it.
After the viral exchange, Diggs went on Micah Parsons' podcast and doubled down on his criticism of the reporter.
“I felt like it was unnecessary. He was trying to use my names for clicks. After the game, I just happened to see it. I went up to him," Diggs said. "I spoke how I felt. I felt like it was a lot of emotions just losing, coming out of the game, fresh off the loss. I’m a competitor, you know, I wanted to win. So, it was a lot of emotions and I let my emotions get the best of me.
"But at the end of the day, it still doesn’t make it right for anybody just to be saying anything or trying to throw dirt on me or making it seem like I’m doing a bad job," Diggs added. "I felt like I played my heart out. I did everything I could. I felt like I was tackling, sending edges, doing everything to help my team win. For him to throw that on my name, it didn’t sit right with me because you were completely wrong.”
Diggs was still not pleased with the reporter for the way he attacked him on one play. So, despite all the backlash he has faced, Diggs still feels like the reporter was in the wrong.
NFL fans take aim at Trevon Diggs
Despite Trevon Diggs not thinking he was wrong, NFL fans disagreed with him. After the clip went viral, NFL fans took to social media to blast the Cowboys cornerback.
"13 year old divas on my team man," a fan wrote.
"Showing real maturity," another fan added.
In the loss to the 49ers, Diggs recorded five tackles. For the season, he has 28 tackles, four pass defenses and one interception.
The next challenge for the Cowboys and Diggs would be their game against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, November 3.
