Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb blames teammates for almost ruining his NFL debut
CeeDee Lamb may be leading the Dallas Cowboys' leaderboard in 2022, but he blames his teammates for almost missing his debut in 2020. Speaking on "The Rich Eisen Show," the wide receiver said that he was getting food for his teammates, but nearly missed a flight because of the errand. Here's how he put it:
"One of my first away games, like my first game in the NFL, I was supposed to go get the food for the guys, my position group in my room and I ended up being late, almost missed the flight. So I almost missed my first game ultimately."
Since his debut in 2020, the wide receiver has gone on to become one of the leaders of the locker room and one of the pillars of the explosive offense. The timing of the interview is also significant. He revealed the stressful rookie situation in a week in which he passed the amount of production of his entire rookie season.
Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb's career stats
If he had missed his first game, the receiver may have started a chain reaction of events putting him on a path to being a shell of what he is currently. Instead, the wide receiver has gone on to have three consecutive seasons of at least 950 yards.
In 2020, he earned 74 catches for 935 yards and five touchdowns. In 2021, he had 79 catches for 1102 yards and six touchdowns. Now, through 13 games, the wide receiver has 74 catches for 961 yards and six touchdowns. With several games left to go, the wide receiver is on pace to have the most productive season of his career.
Of course, Lamb and others still need to go out and put pen to paper. Will CeeDee Lamb coast to a career-record third-year performance? Or was the team's sluggish performance against the Houston Texans just the start of a disappointing finish to 2022 for the receiver and his team?
