Dak Prescott could break $60,000,000 ceiling by getting “ungodly amount of money” in free agency, suggests Mina Kimes
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is headed into the final season of his contract. Prescott and the team have been unable to reach an agreement for a contract extension to retain his services after the 2024 NFL season. Unless both sides can finalize a deal within the season, Prescott could get his first taste of NFL free agency next spring.
On Thursday morning, Mina Kimes appeared on ESPN's 'First Take' to discuss Prescott's possible contract. Kimes revealed the amount she expects the 31-year-old will sign on his new deal.
"When he signs a contract, I expect it, frankly, to start with the number six," said Kimes
Kimes then continued by saying that Prescott's standout 2023 NFL season is a major reason why she sees a big payday for him. He put up some of the best numbers in the NFL and was a candidate for MVP last year. She added that next year's draft class isn't expected to be heavy with quarterbacks which makes re-signing a high-caliber QB even more valuable.
"You don't think Dak Prescott, who is 31 is coming off the year he was an MVP candidate. Top three in just about every metric is going to top that significantly, especially given by the way that the draft next year at this point, doesn't look close to what we're seeing this year, which basically means there will be more buyers for his services. If Dak tests free agency, he is going to get paid an ungodly amount of money, whether or not you agree with that, that's a different conversation. I'm just telling you it's going to happen," Kimes added.
Kimes went on to say that whether NFL fans believe he should see a big payday or not, Dak Prescott will receive an 'ungodly amount of money'.
Ezekiel Elliott believes that contract situation will 'bring out the best' in Dak Prescott
Dak Prescott has reunited with one of his favorite offensive weapons, Ezekiel Elliott. The three-time Pro Bowl running back, who signed with the Dallas Cowboys this offseason, was asked about the contract issues that Prescott is currently dealing with.
Elliott went on to say that he doesn't believe that playing on a contract season in 2024 will derail Prescott.
"So I don't think it will affect him at all. He's just such a strong person mentally. I don't think it will affect him. I think honestly, it might bring the best out of him, which I know that's going to give us his best anyway. But you get what I'm saying," Elliott said.
Elliott believes that all the adversity Prescott has faced only made him stronger and mentally tougher. Whether Jerry Jones and the Cowboys can find a way to sign Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons, remains to be seen.
