Dak Prescott echoes CeeDee Lamb's stance on training camp holdout

The Dallas Cowboys and stars Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb have long had talks about contract extensions that would lock the duo up in Dallas. As multiple wide receivers and quarterbacks have signed record-breaking contracts, the two remain without an extended contract, a month away from the start of the upcoming season.

As contract talks are ongoing with each player and the team, Lamb has decided to hold out, having already missed 10 training camp practices while being fined. Lamb has reached out to Prescott to wish him a happy birthday and share his feelings about his current situation. Prescott said via ESPN:

"I know he shared with me, he's wanting to get back, ready to get back, hoping this thing gets done for him. I know I am as well, Hopefully, we'll get him back sooner than later. But I know he's grinding and working and ready to get back to work."

With Lamb and Prescott entering the final years of their contracts, the Dallas Cowboys would want to get long-term deals done before the season starts.

The storyline this off-season was Dallas has not been able to tie Lamb and Prescott to long-term deals. Jones has been criticized as Prescott's and Lamb's extensions are getting pricier by the day, with players at their positions signing record-breaking deals.

Jones addressed the situation saying that talks between both are "progressing" but didn't talk much more about it as he said it wouldn't do any good. He said:

“They’re just progressing, in my mind ... I would say that we’re talking. I would not have a legitimate progress point there at all. And I really don’t have it for Lamb, either. And it’s not negative. I’m just thinking it wouldn’t do any good to talk about progress.”

The upcoming season starts on Sept. 5 as the Kansas City Chiefs host the Baltimore Ravens. The Cowboys have a month to extend Prescott and Lamb before talks will likely close once the season starts.

Do you think the Dallas Cowboys will reach deals with either Lamb or Prescott before the start of the season?
