Dak Prescott reaches boiling point over Jerry Jones' media comments - "I stopped listening a long time ago"

Dak Prescott is at a critical juncture with Jerry Jones. After seeing his favorite target CeeDee Lamb get $136 million over four years, he wants his own monstrous extension.

However, based on recent comments, the owner/general manager of the Dallas Cowboys appears to be unenthusiastic about the matter. That led his quarterback to go off when confronted by the media:

“I stopped, honestly, listening to things (Jerry Jones) says to the media a long time ago. It doesn’t really hold weight with me.”

He would also say:

“Not really sure. Not my focus anymore to be honest with you. Really can’t say ever was really my focus. It’s about making myself and this team better, getting us in the best position and the most confident to go up to Cleveland and start the season off with a win."

Stephen A. Smith says Jerry Jones should ditch rather than extend Dak Prescott in 2025

At least one person believes the Dak Prescott era will soon be over in Arlington - ESPN's Stephen A. Smith. Citing the quarterback's well-covered history of poor playoff performances, he said:

"Dak Prescott probably would need to leave Dallas, but Jerry Jones also should consider wanting him to. At some point in time, you got to produce. You got to show up, and it has to be in the postseason.
"We can't look at stars and say the moment is important with them. But when it comes to Dak Prescott, we're going to lean on the regular season. We're going to lean on moments that really are not nearly as important as the bigger moments when we're talking when talking about championship questions."

One popular theory Smith's colleague Mike Greenberg put forth earlier this month is that Jones should replace Prescott with Shedeur Sanders, the son of former Cowboys cornerback Deion Sanders.

However, that idea may face significant scrutiny. The Las Vegas Raiders are interested in Shedeur. They desperately need a potential franchise quarterback after the failure and after-effects of their Jimmy Garoppolo experiment.
