"It's fu***ng March!" - Dan Le Batard sounds gun violence alarm after shooting in Tennessee
A shooting incident at a school in Tennessee on Monday, in which six people were killed, led to outrage from a large number of people, including Dan Le Batard. On his show, Le Batard sounded off on the tragedy and on gun violence in the United States.
He also dropped some alarming statistics regarding gun violence and school shootings so far this year.
"2022, more school shootings4(46) than in any year since Columbine. 2023, there have been at least 59 children from the ages of 0 to 12 killed as a result of gun violence. 59 children! 2023, 130 mass shootings! It's fu***ng March!"
He added:
"It's getting worse. We're selling more and more guns. More and more of these killing machine guns. Since the Columbine High School massacre in 1999, more than 338,000 students in this country have experienced gun violence at school. At school! At a place where for learning!"
Three of the six whose lives were taken at Covenant Presbyterian Church private school were children. Nashville police released their names: Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, all of whom were nine years old.
The school shooting was the deadliest such incident in the United States in almost a year. Police noted that the shooting was targeted and entailed planning ahead of time by the shooter, who had detailed maps of the school.
