"Daniel Jones ain't getting the job done": Cam Newton presents Giants star with harsh facts after fans boo QB
Daniel Jones is back in action this season after dealing with injuries most of last year. However, his return hasn’t gone according to plan. The QB has faced the wrath of the fans and Cam Newton recently gave his take on it.
The New York Giants have lost their first two games this season. In Week 1, they were blown out 28-6 at home by the Minnesota Vikings. Jones did not record a single touchdown but had two interceptions, including a pick-six.
Daniel Jones was booed heavily and received the same treatment after the game. When the QB exited MetLife Stadium, a few fans stayed and heckled him. This video went viral.
Cam Newton reacted to the clip on Thursday's episode of his "4th and 1" podcast. The former NFL MVP did not hold back with his criticism of Jones.
“Can you blame the fans? They weren't winners, bro,” said Newton. “Daniel Jones is getting paid a pretty penny and he's playing average. I'm not hatin'. I'm telling my truth. I don't give a damn about being politically correct. Daniel Jones ain't getting the job done.”
“It ain't just me feeling that same way. Did you not hear the boos? I never got booed walking up to it... Only reason why I was getting booed is because I deserved to get booed.”
In 2023, Jones signed a massive four-year $160 million deal with the Giants. He only played six games last season and tallied two touchdowns with six interceptions.
Daniel Jones has a tough task ahead of him
Coach Brian Daboll remains confident in his starting QB and wants to carry on with him this season. Jones earned back some respect in Week 2. Despite the loss, he threw two TDs and zero interceptions.
The Giants are winless and will be on the road on Sunday to face the Cleveland Browns, who are 1-1 and coming off a win against the Jacksonville Jaguars (18-13).
