Davante Adams and Antonio Pierce are "on the outs" amid WR's trade rumors, claims Michael Lombardi
Davante Adams and Antonio Pierce can't seem to catch a break! What started off with the Las Vegas Raiders WR liking a post on Instagram claiming that Adams had played his last snap with the team, has now blown up into an actual trade request by the 6x Pro Bowler.
Then, on the Up and Adams Show, Davante said that even though they had practice sessions together, the HC did not bring up his liking the Davante Adams trade rumor post.
In a media conference later, when asked about Adams and the speculations around his trade, the head coach refused to address it and merely said:
"Davante’s dealing with a hamstring. He’s rehabbing. And the rest of us are focused on Denver."
But it seems there's more going on behind the scenes in the Raiders locker room. In the latest episode of The Pat McAfee Show, 3x Super Bowl champion Michael Lombardi made startling claims about the dynamic between the wideout and his head coach.
"I think they’re on the outs because of the business side of things. I can’t prove this, I don’t know, as Chuck eloquently said, 'You can't lie to players and you can't mislead players.' There seems to be a disconnect between Davante Adams and Antonio Pierce. But there seems to be more than one disconnect."
He did not elaborate on what the "disconnect" between the two is but that could be a major factor in Adams wanting an out from Las Vegas.
Davante Adams to be reunited with Aaron Rodgers in New York?
Former NFL TE Rob Gronkowski pitched the New York Jets as the next destination for the wideout, considering reports that the Jets were on Adams' list of preferred teams and him revealing that he'd like to go to a team whose QB he has previously played with. And he had teamed with Aaron Rodgers at the Green Bay Packers.
"Another team would be the New York Jets, obviously, teaming up with Aaron Rodgers. I think that would actually be the best fit. And I think that would be the best fit for the NFL as a whole as well. And it'd be the best fit for fans. I would love to see him to go back to the Jets and be with Aaron Rodgers again. I mean that that combo was unbelievable."
The other team that Davante Adams could end up in is the Kansas City Chiefs. Even though he hasn't played with Patrick Mahomes, with Isiah Pacheco and Rashee Rice both nursing injuries, the Chiefs are in dire need of offensive weapons.
However, for now, it's a wait-and-watch situation as Adams mulls over his choices and teams fight against each other to grab the skilled wideout.
