Davante Adams confirms radio silence with Aaron Rodgers and teammates during Week 12 bye as rumors circulate over 4x MVP’s exit
New York Jets veteran wide receiver Davante Adams revealed he didn't contact quarterback and friend Aaron Rodgers during the bye week. Amid an underwhelming season for the Jets, Adams and Co. entered the bye following yet another loss.
During Tuesday's edition of Kay Adams' "Up & Adams" show, the WR was asked about his communication with Rodgers last week. The veteran said that he didn't have contact not only with Rodgers but the entire Jets team.
"To be honest I didn't talk to anybody. I was out there just relaxing. I talked to my mom a couple of times but other than that, it was talking to my kids and my wife. It was real--You know, you talk about compartmentalizing, I just, I broke it down and separated from basically everything, which I needed," Adams explained.
Aaron Rodgers has been said to be on his way out of the Jets after failing to meet expectations in his first full season with the team. Coming off a major injury in the 2023 season, the four-time MVP looked ready to dominate in New York, but after 12 weeks, they have been one of the biggest disappointments in the NFL.
He left the door open for a potential retirement after this campaign but insisted that the Jets would be his first option if he decided to extend his playing time.
Davante Adams says Jets teammates are "disappointed"
During the same conversation with Kay Adams, the wide receiver talked about how things are going inside the Jets' locker room. Davante Adams revealed that the vibes are "good" but nobody can be happy after the team entered the season with huge expectations and now is almost at the same level as the rebuilding New England Patriots.
“[The vibe] feels good. (But) nobody’s happy, just 'cause, obviously being in this position is disappointing. After coming into this year, for all the guys that have been here the whole time, with high hopes. Obviously, having Aaron back and this team having a really good roster. To be behind where your expectations were, it’s obviously disappointing," Adams expressed.
The Jets will take on the Seattle Seahawks, who dominated the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. The Cards held the Jets' offense to only six points in their Week 10 matchup. Davante Adams, Aaron Rodgers and Co. still have pride, and they'll try to make a statement this week.
