Davante Adams makes feelings clear on potentially playing for Bears amid uncertain Jets future

Superstar wide receiver Davante Adams engineered a midseason move to the New York Jets to reunite with his former teammate Aaron Rodgers and embark on a quest to win the Super Bowl together. However, the move hasn't panned out as he'd have hoped for.

The Jets are 2-6 since acquiring Adams and have been eliminated from playoff contention. Reports have been rife of the franchise moving on from Rodgers in the offseason, prompting speculation that the veteran will also be on the move after a short stint in New York.

While it's unclear where Adams will play next season, a few teams have no shot at landing the wide receiver, including the Chicago Bears. During his weekly appearance on the Up & Adams show, host Kay Adams asked Davante whether he'd consider returning to the NFC North and joining his former team Green Bay Packers' arch-nemesis. The wide receiver responded:

"No. Never. Look, I'm not playing too much longer as it is. So on my last days in this league, after all I've been blessed with, I will not be going to Chicago. Like I said, I respect everyone I play, but I'm not playing for the Bears."

The Bears could become contenders next season if they hire the right coach and have a good draft. However, Adams isn't keen on leaving anything on chance and seemingly only wants to play for a team that can contend for the Super Bowl.

Will Davante Adams leave the Jets in 2025?

If the Jets cut Aaron Rodgers and commit to a full rebuild, they will likely part ways with Davante Adams as well. The wide receiver has two years left on his current deal, with a cap hit of $38.3 million each season.

While Adams might not be keen on staying with the team knowing they won't be competing for the Super Bowl, the franchise might not like having their ability to add more talent hindered by a 33-year-old wide receiver.

All signs point to Davante Adams exiting the team, especially if Rodgers walks. What remains to be seen is whether the duo join a new franchise together or part ways again.
