Davante Adams opens up about "heartbreaking" season as Jets extend playoff drought to 14

Davante Adams offered his thoughts on the 2024 NFL season for the New York Jets, sharing the feelings of many fans who thought they would be in the race for a playoff spot at this point. Instead, they are eliminated from playoff contention for the 14th straight season and likely headed to an offseason full of changes.

The Jets are three games away from ending a disappointing season that started with high expectations. Despite having a fully healthy Aaron Rodgers, the Jets couldn't put things together and improve what they did last season. During a Tuesday appearance on Kay Adams' show "Up & Adams," the veteran receiver said:

"It's heartbreaking that this is the position that we're in. But I mean, it's still football to be played. So, you know, we play for our pride is there's no tanking or no, you know, let's try to get a draft pick or any of that mindset. I'd never be that type of player.
"So, you know, if I was ever putting that type of situation, there's no way I could be a part of the organization that thinks that way."

He continued:

"So for us, it's about getting out there and doing whatever we got to do. It's a little too late for the playoffs, but, you know, we still got a lot to prove to ourselves and a lot of fun to still be had throughout the rest of this year."

The Jets won their first game in the last five on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams had vintage performances in the 32-25 win, as the quarterback threw for 289 yards and three touchdowns while his best partner caught nine passes for 198 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.

Davante Adams had a solid 2024 season with Jets

Davante Adams was traded from the Las Vegas Aces to the New York Jets ahead of the Week 7 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was considered a key piece to turn around the Jets season, but the bad results kept coming even when Adams had solid outings.

In eight games, he's tallied 49 catches for 651 yards and five touchdowns. His future is uncertain at this point, as the Jets are rumored to part ways with Aaron Rodgers in the offseason. They'll have three more games together with the Jets before entering a crucial period in their careers.
