Davante Adams picks sides in Aaron Rodgers vs. Robert Saleh discord: "There's really no excuse for some things"
Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers were Green Bay Packers teammates for eight seasons. The two are also close friends outside of football. Adams recently gave his take on the situation between Rodgers and New York Jets coach Robert Saleh.
After the Jets' loss on Sunday, Saleh said he would change the offense's cadence. Rodgers said a few penalties on his offensive linemen shouldn't force a complete change. On Tuesday, Davante Adams was a guest on the Up and Adams Show and told host Kay Adams that he understands where his friend is coming from.
"Everybody hears the same snap count huddle, so there's really no excuse for some of these things. So holding people accountable, I agree, sometimes that's what you got to do, versus trying to run from it - and have certain consequences if guys can't get right. And that's the winning culture that we had in Green Bay."
The Raiders wide receiver agreed with Rodgers' sentiment of holding certain players accountable instead of slowing down the cadence.
Davante Adams addressed Raiders' HC support of trade
When he wasn't addressing the drama between Rodgers and Saleh, Davante Adams was discussing possible friction with his own coach. After the Las Vegas Raiders' 20-16 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, an online post said it wouldn't be surprising if Adams had played his last down with the team.
Raiders coach Antonio Pierce liked the post. Many believe the endorsement signifies Las Vegas' plans to trade the WR. Kay Adams asked the All-Pro about his coach's actions, and he said he wasn't worried about the situation. He also stated he hasn't spoken to Pierce since the post was liked.
“I haven’t heard from (Pierce). I haven’t talked to him. I don’t really know exactly what that was about. It’s one of those situations where I just keep my head down and keep doing my thing and let the chips fall where they may. There’s been no communication with anybody from the team since that became a thing, but it’s kind of just like the weekly, ‘What’s up with Tae?’ thing. It’s always some sort of drama. But, at the end of the day, 17 doesn’t create any of it.”
Davante Adams said he tries to avoid innuendo. He also stated that he's the kind of player who doesn't 'stir the pot' when rumors circulate.
