Davante Adams reflects on difficulties of leaving Aaron Rodgers for Raiders: "It's just not the same"

Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers were teammates together for eight seasons from 2014 to 2021 with the Green Bay Packers. Adams seems to be missing being Rodgers' teammate.

Adams recently appeared on former NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe's podcast, "Club Shay Shay," hosted by Shannon Sharpe and opened up about the difficult decision to leave the Packers and Rodgers. Adams says it isn't the same without Rodgers as a teammate in Las Vegas.

Adams said via "Club Shay Shay":

"It was difficult man, and honestly, I can be real and tell you that I knew it was gonna be hard, but it was a lot harder than what I even imagined... And I felt like that wasn't necessarily what was best for me at that moment. Especially with Aaron's future in Green Bay kind of being up in the air, the way it was and him ultimately leaving.
"I didn't want to be there, and in hindsight obviously Jordan Love balling out and would have been great to do that, but I'm the type of guy once I make a decision, I live with it.
"Aaron was a dear friend of mine and it's tough to just not even be able to see somebody that you used to see of eight years every day you know having to go where you can only see each other every few times in the offseason. It's just not the same."

Last season, the New York Jets tried to acquire Adams around the trade deadline to reunite him with Rodgrers, but the Raiders weren't interested in trading Adams away.

There have been a lot of trade rumors this offseason linking Adams to the Jets.

Despite there being trade rumors linking Davante Adams with his former teammate, his agents Kenny Chapman and Frank Bauer dismissed any specualtion of a trade.

“This is baseless, unfounded speculation and Davante is expected to be with the Raiders as there has been absolutely no trade talk — period.”

Adams enters this season in his third year with the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders were 8-9 this past season and 6-11 in 2022. Adams has been known to be frustrated with the situation in Las Vegas, and he even lobbied for the team to bench Jimmy Garoppolo last season.
