Davante Adams refuses to disclose what he gave up for Jets rookie Malachi Corley’s No. 17 jersey

Davante Adams was traded to the New York Jets from the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this week. Coming over from Las Vegas and having previously worn the number 17 in Las Vegas and Green Bay, Adams wanted to sport the same number in New York.

Jets wide receiver Malachi Corley, who has played three snaps for the Jets this season, already had the number 17 this season for the Jets. The rookie agreed to give his number 17 to Adams, while he will switch his number to 14.

Joining Kay Adams on the "Up & Adams Show," she asked Davante what he gave Corley for his No. 17. Davante had an interesting response, saying that he couldn't say what it was on the air:

"I'll tell you when we get off the air. How about that? I can't, I can't release that on the air right now but if you'd like to know personally, because we're great friends, I can let you know... Because, for his sake, I don't want everybody to know."

Usually, when a veteran gets traded to a new team and takes a number from a player, cash is involved. Kay pressed Davante on why he couldn't say what he gave Corley on air and he said it wasn't anything embarrassing but he was giving respect to Corley by not saying what it is.

Although he was traded to the New York Jets just three days ago on Tuesday, Oct. 15, Davante Adams plans on making his debut with the New York Jets this Sunday night. The Jets will be visitors to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

This will be the first time since the 2021 season that Adams will be playing with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who he had a ton of success with since 2014. With the addition of Adams, he's expected to open up opportunities for fellow receivers Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard.

There weren't any details on whether or not Adams will be on a limited snap count. It wouldn't be a surprise if he were as he is learning a new playbook and getting used to being in a new offensive system.

Either way, Sunday night's game is more intriguing with Adams active for the Jets.
