Davante Adams reveals sense of regret over Jayden Daniels landing with Commanders

Davante Adams and Jayden Daniels may never play together in the NFL. With Adams already 31 and in his 11th season and the two playing for different teams, the chances appear to be slim.

On Tuesday's edition of "Up and Adams," the Raiders receiver expressed a sense of sadness about how things turned out at quarterback during the draft.

“He won the Heisman for a reason," Adams said. "He’s a special player. We were hoping that maybe all the teams didn’t think so and he could slip down to the Raiders. He’s out there doing his thing. It’s impressive to watch. He’s such a young kid, it’s a lot of expectations coming in. It’s hard to perform like that, especially on a team that’s been struggling for a while.”

The Raiders went into the 2024 NFL draft needing a QB but came out with none. Stuck with the 13th pick, they had no choice (outside of a blockbuster trade) but to watch Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, JJ McCarthy and Bo Nix drafted.

The Raiders just missed out on Nix who was selected 12th overall by the Denver Broncos. Without any first-round QB prospects to turn to, the team selected tight end Brock Bowers. He has already proven to be a force this season but doesn't solve the team's troubles at QB.

The Commanders winning on Monday Night Football seemed to be the least likely outcome of the night. Furthermore, for Daniels to deliver a win in a shootout with Joe Burrow was perhaps the least expected outcome. The Bengals came into the game badly needing a win as they tried to avoid the dreaded 0-3 hole.

The biggest story of the game was the fourth quarter. With the Cincinnati Bengals on defense and attempting to complete a comeback, they were dealt a dagger on a third-and-seven when they likely only needed a first down to win. Instead, Daniels unloaded a deep touchdown pass which effectively ended the game.

The Commanders now sit in first place in the NFC East following the 38-33 win over the Bengals.
