Davante Adams' wife Devanne has one-word reaction to husband's vintage performance and 100 TD achievement

Davante Adams had nothing to play for except personal pride on Sunday, with his New York Jets already eliminated from playoff contention in one of the most disappointing seasons in recent NFL history. Yet he still made the most of the day, and his wife Devanne was there to witness it.

In the third quarter of the game at the Jacksonville Jaguars, the multiple-time All-Pro and Pro Bowler caught his 100th career touchdown to give the Jets the lead for the first time at 17-16. It was part of a dominant performance that also saw him cover 198 yards on nine receptions and the team eventually won 32-25.

After the game, Devanne (nee Villareal) shared the Instagram link to the milestone on her Stories:

Meanwhile, Davante Adams himself was also very appreciative of the moment. During his post-game presser, he confessed how his team-mates hyped him for the milestone.

"It was good to get in there, my teammates were gassing me up all week about it," Adams said. "I think they were more excited about it than I was which is obviously a great thing."

Meanwhile, interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich called the moment in various positive terms, like "historic" and "magical":

“I feel honored to have seen it and to have been here for it," Ulbrich said. "It was an amazing moment for those two guys. Obviously, a lot of ball between them and a lot of touchdowns. So, for them to get that was special.”

The score was also his 81st from Aaron Rodgers, putting them just one shy of tying the record for most by a QB-WR duo (including postseason) in NFL history set by Miami Dolphins's Dan Marino and Mark Clayton. The former Super Bowl champion and multiple-time MVP reacted.

"It's too little too late, but it's still special," Rodgers said. "It doesn't steal any of the joy in it. It doesn't take away any of the fun that's gonna be on the bus now, on the plane."

Meanwhile, Adams called being in the huddle with his passer again "a lot different" after two and a half seasons in Las Vegas.

"Today was one of those days in the second half; it definitely felt very similar to the way we used to get it rolling."

He would catch another touchdown (plus a two-pointer) in the game to put the Jets up 25-22 in the fourth quarter. Breece Hall would score the game's final touchdown and then Sauce Gardner confirmed the result with his second interception on Mac Jones.
