DeMarcus Ware calls out Cowboys trainer for DeMarcus Lawrence mix-up

DeMarcus Ware revealed how the Cowboys' head trainer, Jim Maurer, managed to text him instead of DeMarcus Lawrence for an important message. The retired NFL linebacker used to play in Dallas too as the current pass-rusher does. Hence, it is understandable why one could make the mistake, but that did not diminish the hilarity in any way.

The Hall-of-Famer posted a picture of the text on Instagram and claimed that it was time for him to come out of retirement and put on his pads again. He even surmised that the jersey numbers conveyed a pass-rush team.

He called the trainer back to laugh about it and ensure that the current player was kept abreast of the information. It was, after all, important information regarding performance-enhancing substances test. DeMarcus Ware wrote,

"Cowboys head trainer, Jim Maurer sent me this text last night. I guess it’s go time 🤷🏾‍♂️. #94 + #90 + #11 sounds like a pass rush team to me 😤... ** of course I called Jim after receiving this text and we laughed about this because the text was meant for DLaw (DeMarcus Lawrence)"

Will DeMarcus Lawrence follow in DeMarcus Ware's footsteps and leave the Cowboys?

DeMarcus Ware is the gold standard for modern Cowboys pass rushers. He made it to nine Pro Bowls and was always a dependable presence on the field. Ultimately, though, he could not win a ring in Dallas and had to go join the Denver Broncos to win his first and only Super Bowl.

DeMarcus Lawrence has been a steady performer for the Cowboys over the past few seasons too. He has four Pro Bowl selections and has been an effective partner to Micah Parsons.

But he knows that he is getting to a point where if they do not win the Super Bowl this year, he might have to seek opportunities elsewhere. All the talk has been about giving Parsons a new contract, whereas he too has turned up when needed and is entering the final year of his current deal.

DeMarcus Lawrence may need to join a team after this coming season that can compete for the Super Bowl in the coming years if he wants to retire with a ring. DeMarcus Ware will always be a legend in Dallas, but even he had to go and join Von Miller to create a unit that could finally win a championship.
