Derek Carr’s brother takes nasty shot at Aaron Rodgers amid rumors of Jets move
Derek Carr and Aaron Rodgers are potential candidates for the New York Jets' starting quarterback role in 2023.
While Carr is a free agent, Rodgers is currently under contract with the Green Bay Packers this season and isn't a free agent.
Carr's brother, Darren, took to Twitter to address the two quarterbacks' off-season race to get signed by new teams. He tweeted, questioning if Rodgers was coming out of his "darkness" retreat today with a meme of Punxsutawney the groundhog emerging from the ground.
Rodgers told Pat McAfee earlier this month that he would be going on a four-day "darkness" retreat in complete isolation in an unknown location to clear his mind and think about his NFL future:
"Well, I'm still in the art of contemplation about my future. And that's why I think it's gonna be important to get through this week, and then, you know, to take my isolation retreat, and just to be able to contemplate all things, my future and then make a decision that I feel like is best for me, moving forward and the highest interest of my happiness and then move forward."
Rodgers added that he would be isolated in complete darkness, stating that he's had friends that have had good experiences doing this.
"So it's four nights of complete darkness. But it's a darkness retreat and I've had, you know, a number of friends who've done it and had some profound experiences. And it's something that's been on my radar for a few years now. And I felt like it'd be awesome to do regardless of where I was leaning after this season."
Carr's brother was referring to whether Rodgers is any closer to a decision, which would likely kick the tires on Carr landing somewhere in free agency.
Where will Aaron Rodgers and Derek Carr end up this season?
Derek Carr will end up with a new team this off-season as the Las Vegas Raiders released him after nine seasons.
He has an advantage over pending free agents as he can negotiate with teams now, and he's already had visits with the New Orleans Saints and the New York Jets.
The Jets are also reportedly interested in Rodgers and could wait to decide on what they want to do when they hear any word from Rodgers about his future in the NFL.
As each day brings us closer to the 2023-24 season, the dominos will soon start to fall into place, and we will see where these quarterbacks land.
