Deshaun Watson’s teammate Amari Cooper speaks on Browns QB's new sexual assault allegation

Deshaun Watson is facing another sexual assault allegation after a civil lawsuit was filed against him. The Cleveland Browns are coming off a Week 1 loss to the Dallas Cowboys and are now preparing for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper spoke to reporters about whether his quarterback's legal woes distract the team.

"In life we all go through things. A veteran told me in my rookie year, you know, whatever you're going through off the field, once you cross those lines out there, you just leave it at home and focus on football. So i think the veteran on this team is doing a pretty good job at that," said Cooper.

Amari Cooper emphasized that when he gets on the football field, that is all he focuses on and everything else off the field doesn't matter.

Deshaun Watson's accuser will interview with the NFL in coming weeks

Quarterback Deshaun Watson was accused by 24 massage therapists of sexual assault in 2021. He settled those civil lawsuits and was handed an 11-game suspension from the NFL in the 2022 season.

He could be facing additional time away from the Cleveland Browns after a new allegation of sexual misconduct was made against him this week. The Browns quarterback has retained his innocence; however, a new update surfaced on Thursday afternoon.

The unidentified woman will have an in-person interview with the NFL sometime in the next two weeks. Her attorney, Tony Buzbee, said that his client also has a video and two witness accounts that will be 'pertinent' to the case.

The NFL hasn't taken any action against Deshaun Watson since the news of this civil suit was filed. However, the league could take disciplinary action against Watson if the new information determines wrongdoing.

After trading for Deshaun Watson, the Cleveland Browns also signed the quarterback to a lucrative five-year contract extension worth $230 million in 2022. The Browns could find themselves desperate for a quarterback if they lose Watson to yet another suspension due to these new allegations.
