Detroit Lions get labeled as ‘frauds’ after humiliating 38-6 loss to Lamar Jackson’s Ravens by former Steelers OL
The Detroit Lions suffered a huge 38-6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens this past week. Heading into this game, the Lions were considered as Super Bowl contenders, and some believed they might be the best team in the NFC. However, things didn't go according to the plan for them in Baltimore.
Jared Goff and the Lions' offense was held scoreless in the first three quarters before Jahmyr Gibbs found space to score the first rushing touchdown of his career. Following the game, former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Willie Colon called Dan Campbell's team a 'fraud.'
Here's what Colon said:
"I told you last week, they're frauds. Greg Jennings, I know you're at home, watching, I told you, the Lions haven't played anybody. This is the first game they played a playoff team, that is in the Baltimore Ravens, and got dominated.
"I told you AFC, North football is different, right because it's physical, playing four quarters of our football and coming out to the building with a duck, yeah, that's what the Baltimore Ravens did."
The Detroit Lions are off to a 5-2 start to the season, and their wins have come against the Kansas City Chiefs, Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, Carolina Panthers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Apart from the Chiefs, there is a possibility that the other four teams might not even make the playoffs.
Moreover, the Chiefs were without Travis Kelce and Chris Jones in the game they lost to the Lions, and like Colon said, the first time they came up against a very good team, they got blown out.
The Detroit Lions will face the Raiders next week
The Lions will face the Las Vegas Raiders next week. It will be a great opportunity for them to bounce back and return to winning ways. They are likely to win the NFC North, but to show that they are a Super Bowl contender, the Lions need to win against playoff teams.
Fortunately for them, their schedule is quite easy. Apart from the game against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17, the Lions have all winnable games going forward.
Jared Goff is an MVP candidate this season, as apart from the game against the Ravens, he has been terrific so far. He has thrown for 1,898 yards, 11 touchdowns, and four interceptions in seven games this season with a passer rating of 97.4.
